I didn’t feel like writing this. Not this story in particular. I didn’t feel like writing anything today, but I had to. This is my job.

Writing was something I originally did for fun. I used to write stories about my adventures in life. Eventually I told all the good ones and my current life is boring. Today I write content like this thrilling writing about writing self help blah-blah-blah you clicked on and are reading right now.

I wasn’t sure what to do when I ran out of This Happened to Me stories. Attention is addictive and finding your audience is hard. I’ve built and lost a handful of audiences in my 20 years of writing online. I didn’t want to lose the one I currently had.

I started writing about music videos and television in a funny way. It did better than all my pure humor writing did and the new challenge gave me the writing bug again.

This applies to YouTubers, TikTokers, Tweeters, Insta Models, Periscope Hoes, Whisper Dealers, LinkedIn Dorks, and Parlor Nazis. Influencers are just Top Writers with a better marketing department. As an influencer who’s name autofills, here’s what I’ve learned about burning out.
